Your Experienced Labor and Delivery Team at The Baby Place

Our board-certified OBs and the skilled and experienced nursing staff work with moms-to-be and new moms to provide personalized, family-like care in a welcoming and safe environment. We know you have a choice for your care and are honored to care for you during these special moments.

  • Board-certified obstetricians
  • All of our Labor & Delivery nurses are certified NRP & ACLS.
  • All staff currently receive NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) training through a shadowing program at Huntsville Hospital for Women and Children and are experienced in C-Section care.
  • The Baby Place at Athens-Limestone Hospital has a direct relationship with the Huntsville Hospital Women and Children’s level 3 NICU should additional care be necessary.
  • Our Labor & Delivery staff has a 98% retention rate.
  • International Board Certified Lactation Consultant and Certified Lactation Counselors to guide the breastfeeding experience.

Maternity Suites

Our updated, comfortable and spacious maternity birthing and recovery suites are designed to keep new and expecting moms and their family members as comfortable, as possible. The rooms offer:
  • Spacious area to accommodate the family and give the parents private space
  • Sofa and a sleep chair for your birthing partner
  • Private bathroom
  • Flat screen TV

Amenities

We offer customizable amenities for your labor and delivery, so you can design a birth plan with your physician that caters directly to your needs.
  • Early bonding with your baby, including support for skin-to-skin contact
  • Enhanced newborn security measures
  • Flexible visiting hours
  • Prenatal screenings, including ultrasound imaging
  • Level II Nursery
  • Centralized Fetal Monitoring
  • Tours of our birthing centers prior to labor and delivery

Other Postpartum Services

  • Skin-to-skin bonding time, promoted both right after delivery and during your time with us after birth
  • Rooming in, which allows the newborn’s crib to remain right beside the mother’s bed
  • Breastfeeding assistance, with help from lactation consultant and other trained staff. The Alabama Breastfeeding Committee recognizes us as a Breastfeeding Friendly Business. We offer a special room for employees or visitors to pump, located in The Baby Place.
  • Newborn hearing screenings
  • Helpful newborn care information, such as when to contact your doctor if your baby is sick, tips for safe sleeping and details on shaken baby syndrome
