The Medical Staff

Your doctor is a member of a highly qualified hospital medical staff and will order your clinical treatment while you are here. The physician will make any necessary arrangements for your laboratory tests, x-rays, drugs, diets and other treatments. The professional fees for your physician and consulting physicians such as radiologist, pathologists, and emergency care physicians will be billed separately from your hospital charges. To receive a list of physicians by specialty, telephone our Community Relations Office at hospital extension 1122.

The Nursing Staff

The nursing staff of the hospital strives to provide you with safe, comprehensive, and satisfying care through good planning. Your nursing care is planned and provided by professional registered nurses under the guidance of your physician. The licensed practical nurse, patient care aide, and unit secretary are also members of the nursing team, and work directly under the supervision of a registered nurse. If you have problems or concerns regarding the quality of care you receive, please do not hesitate to contact the Director of Nursing at extension 1189, or dial "0" and ask the operator to page the nursing supervisor.

Pastoral Services

Athens-Limestone Hospital believes that total patient care demands attention to the spiritual, as well as the physical and emotional needs of each patient. A chapel is located on the second floor of the hospital. There is a list of various denominational ministers who volunteer to help you with your spiritual and emotional needs. Your priest, minister or rabbi is always welcome to visit you while you are here. If you need assistance contacting them, our nursing staff will assist.

The hospital has a full-time registered dietitian to meet your dietary needs during your stay. If you have questions about your diet, please call extension 1283.

Social Workers/Case Managers

Social workers are assigned to each patient care area and are trained to help patients and family members deal with financial, social and emotional problems that relate to illness or hospitalization. Members of the department work with patients and families to help deal with long-term illnesses and rehabilitation and are involved in discharge planning.

Patient Accounts

A representative from the Patient Accounts Department can answer questions about your hospital bill and help you interpret financial policies and billing procedures at the hospital. You may contact Patient Accounts by calling hospital extension 1158 or 233-9158 Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Environmental Services

Our housekeeping staff will clean your room once daily. Nursing will be responsible for your linen needs. Our staff may service your room when you are out having procedures. Upon your return to your room, look for a "tent card" on your bedside table or overbed table as an indication they were there. The time of day your room is cleaned may vary. Let your nurse know if you have cleaning needs at other times. We strive to make your stay a clean and pleasant experience.

To help make your stay a bit more comfortable, volunteers from the community assist the staff in many areas at Athens-Limestone Hospital. Our volunteers enjoy helping and giving attention, care and kindness. They are happy to assist you in any way they can, and can be identified by their name tags and uniforms.

Other Personnel

During your stay you may be visited by many other healthcare professionals, including personnel from the laboratory and radiology departments and physical therapists. In addition, the Athens-Limestone Hospital family includes many behind-the-scene workers, such as accountants, engineers, secretaries, food service workers and others who contribute greatly toward your well-being while you are here.
